But the reality is there’s very little difference between the two mechanically, as both are owned and manufactured by the VW Group.

Car dealer group Rybrook has compiled a list of parent companies that own different mainstream vehicle brands from around the world.
And the information has had to be updated in the last few weeks following the PSA Group’s decision to purchase Vauxhall in the UK (and the Opel brand in the rest of Europe) for £1.9billion in March. That deal has been agreed but is awaiting regulatory approval.
It’s a move that’s become very common in recent years, with massive car groups looking to appeal to a variety of buyers who find different brands desirable, while keeping their manufacturing costs as low as possible.
But now that overarching firms are gathering up a multitude of car badges, do you know who really owns who?
